Alma

I just cought this over at FirstShowing.net. According to the website this short is being developed by none other than Gillermo Del Toro to be a full animated feature for Dreamworks. I thinks it’s wonderful.

“Looks like Guillermo del Toro is already starting to guide DreamWorks down a new path.”

Making of Ford GT-40

Here’s a very cool “making of” piece of a very cool and classic sports car. You may need to log in or create a user for the Autodesk AREA site, but should you have one anyway!

Ford GT-40

“Hello everybody, my name is Luis E. Nieves. I am a digital artist based in Northern California. I would like to share some tips of my workflow through this making of the Ford GT-40 in Vegas. I will cover several aspects of hard surface polygonal modeling, lighting, texturing and rendering. This project was done using Autodesk Maya, Mental Ray and Adobe After Effects.”

Last Minutes with ODEN

Something I’ve recently began to explore is live action filmmaking. In the back of my mind, I’ve had that childhood dream of someday making that big blockbuster movie a-la Steven Spielberg. Though improvable, it can’t hurt to dream, right? Well, in that spirit, I’m going to post links to online films that inspire me. This one here recently won top honors at the Vimeo Awards and it’s quite a tear jerker. I dare you to watch without getting teary eyed.

Brendan Body on “flight”

Here’s a great write up by one of the movie “Legend of the Guardians” animators on the subject of bird flight. Looks like he’s looked into this quite a bit and is quite insightful. Check it out HERE.

This post brought to you by the letter “K”

My first public workflow video quicktip. I’ll be doing more “Maya” related videos as time permits. This assumes, of course, that you’re working with the default maya hotkeys, since, if you’ve assigned something else to the letter “k”, this won’t work. Let me know what you think.
